The mission of the Comprehensive Victim Assistance Program of Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 2 is to address the needs of victims of crime, restore their sense of security and well-being, and facilitate their journey toward recovery and justice. The goals of the Victim Assistance Program include:
- Supporting Victims – To provide emotional support, guidance, and resources to victims of crime during the investigation and judicial process.
- Empowerment – Empowering victims by informing them of their rights, available services, and options within the legal system.
- Safety and Protection – Ensuring the safety and protection of victims by coordinating with other agencies, such as shelters or support groups, and assisting in securing protective measures if necessary.
- Information and Referral – Providing information about available resources, such as counseling, legal aid, and financial assistance (including help in filing Crime Victim Compensation) and referring victims to appropriate service providers.
- Advocacy – Acting as advocates for victims within the criminal justice system, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are considered during investigations and court proceedings.
- Collaboration – Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, victim advocacy organizations, and social services to improve victim assistance and support networks.
